Day tripping

The girls and I went to Gaochun Ancient Street with some of the people from school. Pictures speak for themselves, was "China" - crazy, weird, wonderful and smelly :-)

And then we went to see a random bridge....

Pollution

So today the pollution index was above 250 which is very bad, so bad that the school wouldn't let the children play outside. Perhaps those little ninja masks aren't such a silly idea afterall!

A career on the stage?

Isla's class went to see a traditional Chinese opera school. Children start from age 9 and study for 6 years. Apparently Moo has the face for it :-)

A warning to all other cabbages

Sara and I went for a late afternoon walk and snapped a few pearls on the way. The row upon row of cabbages impaled on the wall spikes of a compound we passed was 'question mark chicken' moment (What the cluck?). Seeing the use of every space for a vege patch would have made Hugh FW very happy and I had to include the truck that in reality is a generator screwed onto the front of a very basic chassis.

Bonfire Night at School.

The clip I have added below is only a minute of the 10 minute show... it did not stop, pause or hesitate at all within that 10 minute period. It was a show that consisted of 4 boxes bought at a local shop for about $20NZ each and if Isla had of walked in and handed over the money they would have gladly given it to her (i.e. no restrictions at all).

The really funny thing is that this would have cost tens of thousands back home, taken 3-4 guys a few days to set up and had a lot of paperwork and red tape, but in China it just takes 4 matches.

Luke went shopping on taobao...

Apparently if you were going to buy 5 Lego superheroes you might as well fill a box! Something to do with free postage... This taobao could be dangerous, have already sourced vegemite and an assortment of handbags, one of the teachers at work does all the ordering and online payments for a minimal fee (well worth it as she also reads the reviews and lets us in on the special deals - like the Lego people :-)

Decathlon

In China it's perfectly acceptable to try out the sporting equipment in store, I would go so far as to say it's expected :-)
Moo thrilled with her new roller blades, thanks  Nanny and Lolo!
