What kind of parents wait until their child turns 8 before throwing them a real birthday party?....Us....yep....up until now Isla's birthdays have been with family and family friends - in our defence her birthday does fall a few days after Christmas, which I'm sure you'll agree is awkward for party organising
.Anyway to cut a boring story short we had a party with 16 of her closest friends (all the girls in her class + our neighbour). Isla chose a pinata cake, choc shell outer cake and choc coins inside. Shell was disaster first attempt but after covering myself and my mothers kitchen and freezer in choc, I think I pulled it off in the end.
To sum up - Isla had a wonderful day, played games organised by Mia, went swimming at the school pool and enjoyed being the centre of attention. Mia commented "wow Isla didn't get this many presents from us on her real birthday". She did end up with quite a haul, lots of craft stuff which is right up her alley.
