Easter bush walk

We even saw a yellow head - apparently thts a very rare nz bird.

The swing bridge at the end was fun.

ANZAC Day at Lake Hawea

Dawn service up at the Hawea dam. Isla sang as part of the school group and Mia read the list of the fallen soldiers. Over 100 people there for a lovely service and a Tiger-moth
did a flyover as the flag was lowered to half mast.

All a girl needs is a pile of leaves

Autumn is here as Isla makes leaf Angels, whilst waiting for Nanny to return and the hunt to begin!

Mia's exciting news

After being m.i.a for 3 and a half long (and frosty) weeks Mia's school jersey has returned! It turns out a kid named James confused the bold print "Mia" on the tag for his own name.
I think Luke reminding her to look for her jersey in front of her entire year group might have helped - it certainly raised awareness of the missing jersey. Poor Mia, hopefully she has learned something from this experience and will take more responsibility for her things :-) Pays to be an optimist....

Chicken updates

Flossy and her 3 babies - I think (fingers crossed) they might all be hens.

It turns out Miranda is a rooster, we bought him as a pullet :-)

He's pretty spunky so perhaps we'll keep him....undecided.

Kapahaka in Alex

We spent a very pleasant afternoon in Alex watching Isla & Luke perform in the central otago kapahaka festival. We lunched al fresco at 'the next cycle' with Grandma and Pa which was conveniently parked near the show grounds. It was great to see you Grandma and Pa, thanks for coming!

Gone fishing...

Preparing to fish next to the salmon farm - feels a little bit like cheating.
Great to catch up with Grandma and Pa again, here in Twizel.
